Porcelain pavers for commercial paving
Safety is undoubtedly the primary factor when selecting a paver for high traffic commercial spaces. Not only should the pavers withstand high impact, but slip resistance when wet is critically important. The appropriate installation method for this setting is to elevate porcelain pavers on adjustable pedestals to level them over the sloped surface and protect the waterproof membrane below. For on-grade settings porcelain pavers can be laid over a concrete surface with thinset and grout or in a prepared sand and gravel bed.
Destination shopping, dining, business and living centers often require extensive paving that sees significant foot traffic and moisture from rain and landscape watering. Stains, mold and mildew buildup, and the ongoing maintenance required to maintain these locations is a concern with concrete and brick, and has investors looking to porcelain pavers for a better paving solution.

All porcelain pavers supplied by European Paver Company meet slip resistance standards established by the ceramics industry – ANSI A326.3 American National Standard Test Method for Measuring Dynamic Coefficient of Friction (DCOF) of Hard Surface Flooring Materials. This test requires pavers to achieve a rating of >0.40 on DM236/89 B.C.R.A. DCOF.
However if required for a specific application, this DCOF can be increased to .87 or greater by applying a mildly acidic anti-slip solution which has been laboratory tested and is supplied by European Paver Company that slightly etches the surface, allowing for an increased suction effect between the paver and bottom of shoes when downward pressure is applied.
This treatment can be effective for increasing the DCOF of dry and wet porcelain pavers, is low odor and non-detectable, and unlike similar products will not cause paver surface discoloration. A single application can be expected to last 3-5 years. Please contact us for additional details.

Adjustable Height Pedestal Systems
Elevate and level a field of pavers over slightly sloping flat rooftops, balconies, patios and pool decks. Pedestals range in adjustable heights from 1” to 30” inches, provide self-leveling heads to compensate for up to 5% slope, with built in spacer tabs allowing water to freely drain off pavers to the substrate below.
Paver Pads For Low Height
Elevate and level a field of pavers over hard substrates like concrete, compacted graven beds, and existing old tiles on rooftops, balconies, patios and pool decks. Pads range in height from 1/4” - 3/8” thick and are stackable to 1” high. Built in spacer tabs maintain a 1/8” gap between pavers for efficient water drainage.
Mortar and grout
Traditional mortar and grout products work well to install porcelain pavers over concrete slabs or even existing tiles. Installing without grout lines is acceptable.
Gravel Beds
Compact a bed of gravel according to local construction codes and lay porcelain pavers over top, using spacers supplied by European Paver Company to maintain a 1/8” gap between pavers for efficient water drainage.
Grass
Remove a layer of soil inside area to be paved, fill with gravel to a depth appropriate for proper water drainage, finish prepping the bed by compacting, and place porcelain pavers overtop, slightly counter-sunk to maintain their position and minimize trip hazards.
Sand
In prepared sand beds, leveling sand can be poured over a bed of gravel constructed according to local codes, with pavers laid over using sand spikes from European Paver Company to maintain paver position and spacing.
